KUNG FU FIGHTING AND BEYOND ..

After "Kung Fu Fighting" (which Pete did with Carl Douglas) became a smash hit in 1974, and the world tours that followed, Pete had sufficient capital to build a recording studio in the countryside at Wellesbourne in Stratford-on-Avon in 1978.

In the midst of the London work, Pete took time out to visit S.A. The plan, organised by Steve Wayne of Blackhill Enterprises (who ran the Hyde Park concerts) was to put together an all Black band which, once rehearsed, could go straight to the States.

The band, known as The Rustenberg Rockets, performed two very successful gigs; the first at Johannesburg Town Hall and the second at the big open-air festival on the site of the infamous Rivonia Massacres.
